This evening in Springfield Missouri, Businessman John Brunner announced his candidacy for Missouri Governor. According to his website: John was born and raised in Missouri — the “Show Me” State!
After his service as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps, John engaged in business as an entrepreneur and manufacturer for over three decades. He is also actively committed and personally involved in worldwide Christian missions and relief organizations.
John purchased the family manufacturing business in the mid 90’s and grew the consumer products company, expanding sales and distribution to every major retailer in the U.S. In 2006, John led the merger with his major competitor, with the result that the company became the largest personal care private label company in America. His leadership as Chairman and CEO continued until his retirement in 2009.
The next few years were dedicated in continuing to serve conservative causes, and as a candidate for the United States Senate.
At the beginning of 2015 his new “pocket” book, “Battlefield Verses” became available as a message of encouragement to military families.
In addition to his leadership in the military and business, John has served extensively in charitable, community and church activities. His focus has been on helping and mentoring young adults with disabilities, with a special emphasis on leadership development.
John graduated with a BS in Management from Harding University, and completed his graduate education with an MBA at Washington University in Saint Louis. He also studied economics at the Foundation of Economic Education in New York, and marketing and entrepreneurship at the Harvard Business School in Boston.
John has been married to his wife, Jan, for 38 years. Together they have three children and ten grandchildren.
John Brunner believes that his oath of office as a Marine — “to defend the Constitution, from all enemies, foreign and domestic” — has no expiration date.
