According to Missouri Public Radio’s on-line edition, Missouri Democrats are changing the name of their annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner to the Harry S. Truman Dinner. As everyone knows, the party founders were slave owners.
According to the Missouri Democrat State Party, slavery had nothing to do with the change. However according to State Senator Jamilah Nasheed: “I think it’s the climate we’re in right now, with this racial overtone,” she said, referring to fallout from Ferguson and the current national debate over the Confederate flag.
Will taking a hard line on history lead to further exposure of the sordid history of the Democrat Party?
