ST. LOUIS – NewsChannel 5 has learned Mayor Francis Slay will apply for federal government grants to temporarily house undocumented children coming through the border.
Slay asked several social agencies, including Catholic Charities and the International Institute, to come up with a plan to house the children in existing facilities in the St. Louis area.
A press conference is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to announce the details. We will stream it live on KSDK.com.
This story will be updated when additional information becomes available.
Members of the St. Louis County Republican Central Committee have first hand knowledge of agencies approached by the mayor.
