Records show that Democrat candidates for St. Louis County Executive have raised substantially more funds than Republican candidate. However, it is believed that most of those funds will be used in a fight between Democrats, Steve Stenger and Charley Dooley. According to the Post-Dispatch:

With the Democratic contest for St. Louis County executive inching toward the August primary, challenger Steve Stenger continues to top incumbent Charlie Dooley on the money front.

Financial reports filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission for the first quarter of 2014 show Stenger, a county councilman, with $794,000 cash on hand.

The balance in the Dooley war chest stands at $607,000.
