This past weekend I was honored to join over 700 Republicans from across Missouri for Lincoln Days 2014. At dinner Saturday night, I turned to Nick Myers, Lincoln Days Chairman and state committeeman from Newton County, and said “Congratulations, Nick! It seems the biggest problem we have is too many people and not enough seats.”
It was one of the bigger successes our party has seen. Thank you!
Our thanks go out to Nick and the Lincoln Days Committee as well as the staff of the University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center in Springfield.
Lincoln Days is a celebration of the hard work we do to advance our platform. This year we heard from RNC Co-Chair Sharon Day as well as Senator Roy Blunt, Lt. Governor Peter Kinder, State Auditor Tom Schweich, Congressmen Blaine Luetkemeyer, Billy Long, Ann Wagner and Jason Smith.
Hispanic Republicans of Missouri celebrated their 10th Anniversary and a new group made their debut at Lincoln Days; The Hood Conservatives, headed by a Republican dynamo – Cecilia Johnson. Proving our Republican message not only works but is sustaining.
We hosted a number VIP’s over the weekend, with Kentucky Senator Rand Paul keynoting Saturday night’s dinner, where over 450 of your fellow Republicans attended.
Senator Paul’s speech highlighted the need for party unity and the importance of the inclusive philosophies our party is known for.
After Rand finished he told me, “I like coming to Missouri – great people, great energy. Good for you guys – and for our party!”
Thank you again for making the weekend one to remember. I hope to see or talk to you soon.
