According to STLToday.com, Governor Nixon has appointed two Republicans to the St. Louis County Board of Elections. The positions have been vacant for two years and they are finally being filled.
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has nominated two St. Louis County attorneys for a pair of vacant positions on the county Board of Elections.
The nominations of Republicans John King and John Maupin now move to the Missouri State Senate for confirmation.
The election board certifies the veracity of polling results.
King, a partner with Lothrop and Gage, is well known in county government for his work on zoning cases. He a former chairman of the St. Louis County Police Review Committee.
Maupin is with the law firm of Eckenrode-Maupin. He served in the public sector as an assistant general counsel with the Missouri Highway Commission. Maupin was a member of the Missouri Ethics Commission from 1993-96.
