According to the St. Louis Business Journal, Governor Jay Nixon is lobbying Boeing to bring production for a portion of a new aircraft project to St. Louis. The Business Journal stated:

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon met with Boeing executives on Thursday where he urged them to consider housing production of its new 777X aircraft in St. Louis.

In a statement, Nixon said he had an “extremely productive meeting” with company executives who are hoping to select a production location for the new 777X as soon as January

This would be great for St. Louis and Missouri. Also, Boeing has the infrastructure here to do it. However, is the business climate in Missouri acceptable for Boeing to bring additional manufacturing here? Lets not forget that Governor Nixon recently vetoed a bill that would allow tax incentives for companies like Boeing and all businesses in the state. Also, would “Right to Work” laws help? Nixon could “pick winners and losers” by offering tax credits. However, Missouri has been swindled out of millions of dollars with his decisions before.

Lets hope for the best.
