A letter from Ted Cruz:

The Senate will vote today on the Schumer/Hoeven/Corker amendment to the Gang of Eight immigration bill, a “border security” amendment which doesn’t require the border actually be secured. This legislation makes the same mistake of the 1986 amnesty — legalization today for the false promise of border security tomorrow. It will encourage more illegal immigration and must be stopped.

Your immediate action is needed: Tell your Senators to oppose the Gang of Eight’s bill and instead pass legislation that actually secures our border. Call your Senators using the Senate switchboard at (202) 224-3121 right now and send an email by clicking here.

The Schumer/Hoeven/Corker amendment is nearly 1,200 pages long, was just filed Friday afternoon, and will be voted on today. We saw with Obamacare what happens when Congress rushes to pass such unwieldy legislation. We must reject this bill.

Here’s a guest op/ed on RedState that lays out the details of why this new proposal must be stopped…please take a look and share it with all your friends.

“There are too many troubling provisions of the bill to list, such as de facto affirmative action hiring for current illegal immigrants due to Obamacare and huge amounts of discretion for the DHS Secretary to waive deportation and inadmissibility. And for all the talk, the new Schumer-Corker-Hoeven “deal” is nothing new at all. It’s the same amnesty-before-false-promise-of-security of the Gang of 8 and the bills of debates past.”

Tell your Senators to reject the Gang of Eight bill: Call the Senate switchboard at (202) 224-3121 right now and send an email by clicking here.

Thank you for your help in this critical effort.

Ted Cruz
