According to the Post-Dispatch, Prop P will remove $780 million from the St. Louis economy over 20 years. This is our earnings no longer available for restaurants, grocery stores, housing or clothing. While we will have new “trails” for leisure we will have less for necessities. From the Post:
Prop P will increase sales taxes by 3/16 of one cent, or about 2 cents on a $10 purchase, and raise about $780 million over its 20-year life.
