The woman recently hired to oversee tax collections in St. Louis County has not paid her personal property taxes since 2008. Neither has her husband.Stacy Bailey, hired last month as Collector of Revenue, and her husband, William, together owe $2,253 in back taxes on their jointly owned 2008 Chrysler 300 and 1988 Buick LeSabre. William also owes $2,549 on his 2007 Chrysler Aspen.As Collector of Revenue, Stacy Bailey supervises the collection of real estate and personal property taxes in the county. She reports to Director of Revenue Eugene Leung.

The Baileys, who live in Florissant, face other financial troubles; they filed last year for bankruptcy.

Leung said Wednesday he did not know about Bailey’s financial problems nor delinquent personal property taxes when he hired her. He said he checked her real estate taxes but that not checking her personal property was an oversight.
