Roy Blunt emerged the winner Tuesday in a hot contest for a GOP Senate leadership post, a race in which the Republican establishment was able to claim victory over the Tea Party and GOP insurgents.

Blunt, R-Mo., topped fellow first-term senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin in the vote by Republicans for vice chairman of the GOP conference — as of now made up of 47 senators.
